Mazen Almidani, MD, is the pediatric neurology specialist at Midwest Neurology Associates, P.C. in Dyer, Indiana. In addition to providing expert care for children, Dr. Almidani also provides adult neurology services and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood and adult epilepsy. Dr. Almidani is happily married with 3 children. His oldest son has Autism and his daughter has complicated seizures; both were a drive for him to become a Pediatric Neurologist. He understands very well how autistic and epileptic children behave and challenges that they may have, including possibly being treated with medication. Dr. Almidani enjoys soccer, running and spending time with his family. He is very involved with his sons’ therapy and helping with daily challenges. He is double board-certified in Pediatric and Adult Neurology and Epilepsy. He sees children and adults, which is an important part of care once a child turns 18, they are not discharged. Dr. Almidani will continue to see and treat the patient throughout their adulthood. He also participates in charities for children in Syria who may be underprivileged and/or affected by the war.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine at Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria, Dr. Almidani relocated to the United States to complete his pediatric residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He then went on to Texas Southwestern Medical Schools & Hospitals, Saint Francis Medical Center in Dallas for his fellowship training in pediatric neurology.
Dr. Almidani is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and board-certified in epilepsy, as well as neurology with special qualification in child neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Almidani is licensed to practice medicine in Indiana and Texas.
