What is pediatric neurology?

Pediatric neurology is a medical specialty focused on health issues that affect the nervous system in children, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.

At Midwest Neurology Associates, P.C., Dr. Almidani, a board-certified pediatric neurologist, provides highly specialized care. After completing his residency in pediatrics, Dr. Almidani received fellowship training in pediatric neurology to be able to diagnose and manage nervous system conditions that affect children.

Will my child need any special tests?

Depending on your child’s needs, the team at Midwest Neurology Associates, P.C., may conduct testing to further evaluate your child’s nervous system.

In addition to genetic testing, the team may perform an electroencephalogram (EEG). This painless test monitors electrical activity in your child’s brain and is used to confirm or rule out a seizure disorder.

Diagnostic imaging may also be requested, such as a CT scan or MRI. The neurology specialists can interpret the results of these tests, which may be used to rule out or confirm a diagnosis or help direct your child’s treatment plan.
